Transferring a .uk domain from WIS to another provider

In order to transfer a .uk domain (eg domain.co.uk, domain.org.uk etc) the IPSTAG of the domain will need to be changed to the new provider. The IPSTAG will consist of one word in block capitals (eg WORLDWIDE).

For us to be able to change the tag we will need a fax or letter requesting the tag change. The requirements of the fax/letter are as follows:

Where the registrant is a company or organisation it should be on headed paper
It must state the domain name and the tag of the new host
It must be signed by an authorised signatory. In the case of limited companies the authorised signatory should be either a company director or company secretary. In the case of a partnership the authorised signatory should be a partner.

Alternatively the change of tag details can be sent by post to: 17 Westgate, Cowbridge CF71 7AQ.

We will endeavour to make the change as soon as possible, and most tag changes are made within 24 hours of receipt, but during busy periods it can take several days or more. We don't make any charge for changing tags so we will not offer any guarantee as to timescale. If there are any problems with the fax (eg not signed, incorrect tag specified etc) the change of tag may be delayed or may not be made at all.

We will not normally advise you when the tag change has been made and any request to do so will generally be ignored. Instead, please do a whois check:

All contractual fees due to WIS must be paid up to date before we will agree to change a tag. If any of our fees are outstanding at the time the change of tag is requested we may refuse to make the change.

Please note that the above applies to domains in the .uk domain space only (eg domain.co.uk, domain.org.uk, domain.ltd.uk etc) only. Other types of domain, such as .com/.net/.info/.biz etc, have different requirements for transfer.
